Welcome to Year 4!
The Y4 team consists of the following teachers: Mrs Purdom in 4JP, Mrs Smith and Mrs Webb in 4SW, Mrs. Wymer in 4CW and Mrs Drury in 4JD. The children are also supported by our teaching assistants: Mrs Proctor, Mrs Cooper, Mr Gartrell, Mrs Hornsey, Miss Smith, Mrs Middleton and Mr Bartholomew. Some of our classes are also taught by Miss Lee, Mrs Grimsley & Mrs Sharman. What a team!
We are an active lot at Lydgate Juniors - we have two PE lessons a week. Please remember to come to school dressed in school PE kit on your day. A warm jumper or fleece is a good idea for outdoor games lessons. Our PE days are as follows:
4JP — Monday (indoor) Friday (outdoor)
4SW — Monday (outdoor) Friday (indoor)
4CW — Tuesday (indoor) and Wednesday (outdoor)
4JD — Tuesday (indoor) Wednesday (outdoor)
Y4 children all have the opportunity to have a block of swimming lessons over the year. We will let you know details when it is your child`s turn to swim.
We will also be working in our woods on alternate Fridays. Everyone should wear appropriate clothing for these forest school sessions. We will send a text reminder when it is your turn.
Homework in Year 4 is given out on Friday and due in the following Thursday. The children have a pink homework book - everything is kept in there. We also ask that you practise x tables - little and often is best.
We are passionate about reading and would love the children to experience a wide range of books and stories, at home as well as at school. Listening to your child read, sharing a book together, visiting the library, listening to an audio book or snuggling up for a bedtime story all count. Our message is to read, read, read, read and read!
