Animals of the Amazon
As you all know, we have started our new topic and this week, we have been finding out about the animals that live in the Amazon rainforest. We made these beautiful pictures using pastels and black felt tip pens. First of all, we researched which animals lived in the Amazon and then we had to sketch out our composition using black pens (no pencils allowed!) and then we used soft pastels to blend colours, shades and tones. When we were happy with our pictures, we went around the final outline with chunky black pen.
We now know which animals live in the Amazon and we are pretty proud of our new classroom displays. What do you think?

Y4RD - OOPS!
In 4CW we have been learning the short method of multiplication. Because we have had so much practice partitioning our numbers, we have picked it up quite quickly and are pretty good at it. We are now tackling division. Here are a couple of examples of our good work.
In Y4JP, we have been enjoying the story of 'The Iron Man' by Ted Hughes. We read chapter 1 and listened carefully to the description of the iron giant before making our own watercolour pictures of what we imagined him to look like.
We have been doing lots of writing activities about the Iron Man, including making word and phrase banks, writing the chapter from the Iron Man's point of view and writing a diary entry from Hogarth, the little boy who met the Iron Man in chapter 2. Here are a couple of our diary entries. We tried hard to think about how Hogarth might have been feeling.
We can't wait to find out what happens next!
