Welcome to 2019-2020

A very warm welcome to all of you as we start a brand new school year. The year 4 children have impressed us all with the way they have settled into their new classroom routines and been enthusiastic about their learning. We are very much looking forward to the year ahead - we know it's going to be lots of fun!

There will be a newsletter next week, detailing our systems for homework, PE days, curriculum information etc but you may find the following helpful right now:

- Pink homework books have been given out today. We will hand out homework (always stuck in the book) on Fridays and it should be completed and returned the following Thursday. Homework will always be talked about and looked at, but not necessarily marked.

- Spellings are given out at the beginning of each week in class. We work on these words every day in lessons but would appreciate your support at home too. Look out for a grid with the whole half term's spellings - one to stick on the fridge!

- Regular x tables practice is a must. We will be working on this consistently in school and your help at home is much appreciated. TTRockstars is a great motivator.

- We are passionate about reading at Lydgate Juniors and we will share this with your children. They will be exposed to a wide range of books and stories at school but we are often asked for recommendations too. The year 3/4 book list here is a good place to start:

- Y4RD and Y4SS have their first swimming sessions on Thursday 12th September.
