Wa Wa poems

Have you been reading the 'We've got a Wa Wa' poem we sent home? Here is a recording of some children reading it in school yesterday. You could join in and read along with them if you like...

If you have made up your own verse, we would love to hear it. We will be sending an email address to Y3 parents today that they can use to send your poems to us and we'll try to post some of them on this blog to share with other Y3 children.

Here are some verses that the children in school made up today. We think they sound great - what do you think?

We've got a Wa Wa in our house,

Comes at night and looks like a mouse,

Snores like a pig,

Looks like a fig,

Fat and funny,

And it's hair - oh mummy!

Bum all floopy,

Face all droopy,

Ears all floppy,

And its nose - oh ploppy!

We've got a Wa Wa, likes to eat,

Sleeps all day and its friend is called Pete.

I've got a Wa Wa under my bed,

I decided to name him Fred,

Belly like jelly,

Breath all smelly,

Ears all slimy

And its tail - cor blimey!

Hairy and scary,

Eyes all starey,

Lips all lumpy

And its teeth - oh mummy!

I've got a Wa Wa, he lazes around,

And he loves playing in the playground.

We've got a Wa Wa in our class,

The teachers locked behind a sheet of glass,

Wet and Shiny,

Sort of slimy,

Really weird belly

And the legs - all jelly.

Super fast,

Very vast,

Never baths,

Doesn't like maths.

Lots of people stop and stare,

My uncle thinks that it's a bear.

My Wa Wa says its favourite food is pizza,

But it does like to steal my mum's home-made fajita,

Face all wrinkly,

Clothes all crinkly,

Eats all month,

And its food - oh mum!

Nice to me,

Come and see,

Never hurts

But its face - Oh Bert!

All my friends like my pet,

But my dad thinks that he needs a vet.

We've got a Wa Wa in our house,

He's my friend but he looks like a mouse,

Snorts and snores,

Lots of flaws,

Slimy and funny,

And its eyes - oh mummy!

Ribs all wrinkly,

Knees all tinkly,

Eyes all mad

And its horns - oh grandad!

We've got a Wa Wa that likes to sleep,

Likes doing maths and it eats a lot of sheep.

I've got a Wa Wa under my bed,

It likes to cuddle up with my ted,

Squelchy and fluffy,

Wobbly and puffy,

Legs all slow

And its claws - oh no!

Arms all thick,

Tail all sick,

Hands all mad,

And its mouth - oh dad!

I've got a Wa Wa that plays tig,

And it loves to do a silly jig.

We've got a Wa Wa - it is bad,

Snores and snorts just like my dad,

Wet and slimy,

Wiggly and tiny,

Really wriggly,

Fiddly and giggly.

Eyes all tiny,

Bored and whiny,

Ears all clear,

But its laugh - oh dear!

I'm going to take my Wa Wa to school,

I don't care if it's against the rule!

I've got a Wa Wa under my bed,

Sits under there and pretends he's called Fred.

Wet and slimy,

Giggly and whiny,

Tells a lie

And its tail - oh my!

Eyes like slime,

Likes to rhyme,

Bum all bumpy

And its feet - oh mummy!

Hands all smelly,

Legs just like jelly,

Toenails all mad,

And its arms - oh dad!

I've got a Wa Wa, sleeps a lot,

He can fit into a pot.

We've got a Wa Wa in our pool,

All he does is roar and drool,

Big and hairy,

Fat and scary,

His name is Po

And his tum - oh no!

Arms all fluffy,

Feet all scruffy,

Sucks a dummy,

And its teeth - oh mummy!

We've got a Wa Wa who likes to swim,

I'm sure you would want one just like him.
