RRS

In Year 3 we have started learning about the United Nations Convention on The Rights of The Child (UNCRC) because every child has the right to learn about their rights (Article 42). So far, we have learnt that every child in the world has these rights from the moment they are born until they are 18. We know that the Rights of The Child cannot be taken away from us but it is an adult’s responsibility to ensure our rights are met. We have also learnt that that every right has equal importance and that we should respect everybody’s rights, including our own.

Last week we discussed the difference between ‘wants’ and ‘needs’. We shared our views and opinions, as every child has the right to their own opinion and for it to be listened to and taken seriously (Article 12). We worked in groups to sort different things into a ‘wants’ or ‘needs’ category.
