Homework - Money Problems

We have just started a new unit of work in maths lessons about money. The children have brought home a sheet of maths problems involving money this week.

Please note that we are not teaching the decimal notation for pounds and pence in Year 3 as the children are not introduced to decimals until Year 4. We are teaching them to keep pounds and pence separate and to write '£1 and 23p' instead of '£1.23'. We find that this helps to avoid a common misconception around the place value of money. The children will be introduced to the standard notation when they understand how decimals work.
