Tadeo Jones drama.

In Y5NL this week, we've been watching a film about Tadeo Jones. It is about a man who goes into a eerie tomb looking for treasure. In the tomb, he found an ancient statue that slapped him and, strangely, it had a slot for one euro on its leg. He luckily had a penknife and picked the lock. The statue majestically lifted and revealed a secret tunnel that you needed to crawl through. As he came out the tunnel, he stood up and a rock fell; it took his bag off and destroyed it. He looked to his right and found a light switch, then he reluctantly flicked it. Lights turned on. He found a handle which lifted a compartment that had lots of treasure in it but also opened the mummies' sarcophagi to let them out. The mummies chased him on to a bridge over magma, which had appeared moments before. He sprinted along and his trousers got ripped off by one of the mummies. He jumped into the train and we realised it was a theme park.

Here are some photos of the freeze frames we made of the different parts of the story.

Today in Year 5, we have all been learning about one of the Global Goals. In 2015, world leaders agreed to 17 Global Goals and five years later, we have more work than ever to do. These goals aim to create a better world by 2030. The goal that we looked at was 'Gender Equality'. We were all so shocked by some of the facts that we learned, such as: 85 millions girls worldwide are not in education; one girl under the age of 15 gets married every 2 seconds; and women are 47% more likely to be seriously injured in a car accident. We are creating some artwork about what we learned which is going to be displayed in the hall.

Y5WR showed wonderful timekeeping and percussion performance skills in Music.  We practised a Caribbean song called Island in the Sun.
