Friday 17th September

We have been working very hard in Year 4 this week. We have learnt about common nouns and proper nouns, worked on place value and partitioning numbers, used similes and metaphors in our writing, continued our work on sound and started to make our class timelines. We have enjoyed being active too - swimming, playing dodgeball and working in the woods. We have also had our very first star of the week assembly. Well done to all of our stars.

4CW

This week in 4CW we have been considering what makes a church.  We found out that some churches have been made out of very strange materials such as ice, blocks of concrete made to look like lego and also out of army tanks. We had a go at making some of our own.

We also had our first session in the woods this week.  We listened to a story about trolls and then made our own in groups using clay and materials that we found on the forest floor.  Next time we will be making a maze and an assault course for our trolls.

We had fun in the woods too, making our forest trolls. We learnt that Norse sailors believed that trolls were mischief makers and they didn't want them on board their ships. They made mazes on the beach to confuse the trolls. We made our trolls from clay and natural materials, just like 4CW. We had time to make our mazes too. The trolls were very confused!

We are getting to know each other so much better now and it is good to be settling well into new routines so quickly. We now have our PE on a Thursday (indoor) and on a Friday outdoors, with Mr Wright.

We are working on our dodgeball skills this half term. We enjoyed a partner work game in our warm up that tested our reflexes. Then worked on developing some of our throwing and catching accuracy. In our dodgeball game some of us even became superheroes! Then it was time for a cool off and discussion of top tips and tactics ready to improve our game next Friday.
