Over the last few weeks, the Y4 and Y5 School Council representatives have started an air pollution project. The aim of the project is to investigate what the air quality is like in and around our school. Air pollution from traffic is a real concern with our proximity to such busy roads. We hope to find out what the levels of air pollution are like locally and then come up with ideas of how we can improve it.

Last week, we decided on locations to test and then this week we have put pollution collection tubes at these places. In a few weeks time, we will collect the tubes and send them away to be analysed - we will let you know the results of these when we have them. For more instant information, we also carried out some surface wipe tests. These results really shocked us - particularly on Manchester Road.

We will be sharing more of our findings and ideas over the next few months with you.
